From the first time you look at these bindings you’ll notice that there is just something a little different with the construction of them. Not to say its good or bad, but just to note that it’s different. Most notably is the fact that the majority of the binding does not look like it is made of rubber but more of a synthetic leather with a very thin draw string to synch up the lacing system. Also as opposed to normal ‘up the front’ laces these are diagonal from your big toe to your outer ankle. This helps to add massive flexibility yet still provide enough support so you don’t feel like you are lacking something.

The PVC outer shell is quoted as being ‘lighter and stronger’ than leather, which I could only agree as these bindings were a great deal lighter than they looked. The base plates use an injected fiberglass molding technique that makes them exceedingly strong and the 1.25” thick footbeds provide cushy landings after charging hard.

If you are looking for a binding that will provide a great amount of flexibility to bone out your tricks and tweak those nuclear grabs, look no further. DoubleUp has put some great thought into this binding, however there are just a few areas where I would improve this. After riding it I felt like I couldn’t get my heel locked down well enough to where I really feel like I’m part of the board. A heel strap would work great, or maybe just a slight modification on how the bindings lace up around the top of your ankle. The base plate is pretty thick and I needed to find a set of longer screws in order to slap them on my board.

I’m not sure how much a set of these will set you back, but I’d expect to save around 300 smacks for them. Check the Wulf Clamps as well as the entire Double Up lineup on the web at http://www.doubleup.com.
