The Australian Wakeboard Association today named Tigé Boats the Official Towboat for the Australian Wakeboard National Championships being held from the 11th to 13th of April in Canberra ACT. The Nationals culminate as the highlight of the Australian season and attract a large crowd to the banks of the Molongolo River to see who will be crowned Australian Wakeboard Champion for 2003.

The Tigé 2003 20v Riders Edition, fitted with Tigé’s Patented TAPS wake adjustment system, will be used to tow the event. And, after receiving rave reviews during the second and third rounds of this years APTW events, will again give all competitors the ultimate chance to put together their best runs to vie for this year’s title.

Tigé riders Wayne Mawer, WWC World Wakeboard Champion, and Scott Broome will be competing. However, Daniel Watkins has commitments to Team Tigé in the USA and will compete on the first stop of the Pro Wakeboard Tour in Orlando, forcing him to miss this year’s event.

“Having won the event in 97, 99, and 2001 I am disappointed I will not have a chance to potentially add the Nationals to my 2003 titles. Being the Aussie Pro Tour Champion this year was awesome but the Nationals are an event I would like to win every year. Hopefully Wayne or Scott can step up and take the title for Team Tigé,” said Watkins, after announcing he cannot make this year’s event.

“It has been a hectic schedule of events in this our first season of manufacturing in Australia, however we are very pleased to be towing the Nationals in Canberra and again showcasing the 20v Riders Edition. With the boat show season commencing only weeks after this event it is a great opportunity to once again show why the 20v is fast becoming the boat of choice for many Australian riders and families,” commented Tigé’s Australian director Adam Houlahan.
