Canyon Lake Wakeboard Club Series #4

The weather, aside from a couple of dirt devils, for today's event couldn't have been any better. Air temp in the 90's, water close to 80 and a slight breeze to cool off the spectator contingent, which had gathered on the beach to witness the fourth round of the Canyon Lake Wakeboard Series.

A total of 57 riders signed up for a chance to win some great prizes that were provided by event sponsor Liquid Force. In addition to sponsoring the event, Liquid Force rep, Don Wallace, provided some very entertaining color commentary over the PA system. Spending the day in the announcer's tower also enabled Don to come up with several trivia questions and other interesting contests, each of which resulted in the winner receiving a wakeboard video or other great prize. Add that together with a live band playing off and on, and you get the recipe for a full day of fun in the sun.

Damian Klaas
Ten riders signed up for the Wired for Sound/Lake Chevrolet double-up contest and a shot at the $400.00 grand prize. Results for this portion of the event are determined by a total of six judges, two in the tower, two on the beach and two in the boat. Each rider receives two double-up attempts with the better of the two determining the winner. With a little wind chop throwing in an extra added twist, Cody "Killer" Hall spun a big 540 on his second effort to claim the first place cash. Second place and $100.00 went to Chris Williams and his first attempt, a huge front roll. Third place and getting his entry money back was Travis Hall.

Ryan Augustine
Ryan "Auggie" Augustine put together the best two passes of the day to take the top spot in the Open Class. Chris Williams cashed in on his second runner-up position of the day and Cody Hall, the hero in the double-up contest, rounded out the top three.

For the second time this season, a rider from the women's pro tour came out to play with the Open class boys. Melissa Marquardt put in a great ride and finished up in the sixth position.

The next tournament is July 14. Come out and join the fun. For more information on the Canyon Lake Wakeboard Club series, check out www.wakeboardclub.com.
