Malibu will Tow for the WWA

(Merced, CA) – Malibu Boats adds the World Wakeboarding Association’s (WWA) World Wakeboarding Championships to their distguished tournament list. In October of this year, WWA will open a new chapter in the book of the World Wakeboarding Championships with Malibu Boats as the official tow boat and Australia as the new venue.

Why Worlds?
Malibu is very selective when it comes to events that feature their boats. Malibu is as picky about the tournaments they pull as they are about the way they build their boats and the professional athletes they choose to represent them in competition. In fact, many of the events towed by Malibu boats are run entirely by the Malibu factory. The Malibu Open and the acclaimed Just Ride Series fall into this category. Outside factory run events, Malibu hand-picks competitions that are of the highest caliber. Wakestock and now the World Wakeboarding Championships represent the high level of tournament Malibu Boats demands to be associated with.

Jimmy Redmon, WWA President, explained that the World Wakeboard Championships towboat opportunity became available late last year and Malibu has stepped forward to become the storied event’s official towboat. "We’re excited about our new partnership with one of the best wakeboard towboat companies in the World," said Redmon. "It has started a whole new era for wakeboarding allowing the WWA to take the sport farther than ever before."

It all goes down… "down under".
The choice to become a part of the WWA team was a "no-brainer" for Malibu Boats, not just because of the stellar reputation of Worlds, but also because the event is being held in Australia for 2005. Malibu’s third manufacturing facility is located in Albury, NSW, Australia and currently Malibu Boats account for more than 30% of the tow boats sold there. Malibu Boats is literally at home "down under" and this event will be a great testament to that domination.

The 2005 Championships will be held at Marshall’s Wakeboard Paradise in Maroochy, Queensland, Australia in October. The event will include more than eight divisions for men, women, boys, girls and professionals fighting for a place atop the podium of wakeboarding’s most coveted championship.

Paul Singer, Vice President of Sales & Marketing said, "We’re proud to be a partner with the WWA in producing the sport’s most celebrated event. Fulfilling this opportunity supports the Malibu mission of producing the best product and events in the market." Malibu Boats maintains factories in Merced, California; Loudon, Tennessee and Albury, Australia.

The Worlds.
The WWA developed the wakeboarding industry’s most prestigious wakeboard event in 1989. As wakeboarding’s out-with-a-bang season finale, the World Championships has always attracted the world’s best wakeboarders. Past Champions include Eric Perez, Mike Weddington, Darin Shapiro, Parks Bonifay, Tara Hamilton and last year’s champions, Dallas Friday and Andrew Akinson.
