Malibu Challenges Typical Wakeboard Boat Design

(Merced, CA) - Malibu engineers took the "2006 Boat of the Year" 247 LSV design and wrapped it around a center-mounted 400 horse power engine. The result is a 24 foot 7 inch direct-drive that accommodates 16 passengers with two lounge seating areas complete with near by refreshment and entertainment access. All this and the 247 RX churns out tournament caliber wakeboard wakes.

When asked about his opinion of the new Wakesetter 247 RX, professional wakeboarder, Jeff Weatherall had this to say, "The first time I hung out in the RX was at the Malibu Boats photo shoot. I was impressed. The wakes had great size and shape. And even with a bunch of us going out each day to ride there was plenty of room for everyone." Weatherall continued, "I also liked the dual lounges. We all got to hang out and ride for hours, without getting on each other's nerves."

The Wakesetter 247 RX is a wakeboard boat through and through. The hull is optimized to displace water right off the showroom floor. Fill the 550 pounds of Malibu Launch System (MLS) and the available 400-pound bow tank, drop the optional Wedge or Patented Power Wedge and watch the 247 RX pump out liquid launch ramps. You can ride these wakes in style strapped to the Illusion X Tower and admired by two sections of spectators.

Even if you and your family are not all about water sports, the Wakesetter 247 RX could still be the boat for you. It is a family pleaser from the word go! The RX is built with two fully functional lounge seating areas. Malibu has equipped each lounge with a removable refreshment table receptacle so you can install the table in either lounge or opt for the second table so both lounges can enjoy. Two easy-access self-draining ice chests and a host of oversized stainless steel cup holders are also within arms reach of each lounge.

The sun seekers will gravitate toward the center sun deck to catch some rays. The kids will congregate in rear lounge near the new entertainment console and the adults can take a breather in front lounge. And those passengers who really need a break can kick-it in the bow.

Don't let the comfort and accommodating nature of this behemoth wake-maker fool you. The Wakesetter 247 RX is still a direct-drive Malibu boat. It handles like a dream. Thanks to the straight chine of the hull design, perfectly tuned underwater gear, the balance of a center engine, rack and pinion steering and electronic throttle control, the RX drives like a much smaller boat.

One of six new models introduced by Malibu this year, the Wakesetter 247 RX is one of a kind in the water sports industry. Visit your nearest Malibu Boats dealer and experience the difference.
