AUSTIN, TX (May 8) - Some of the top wakeboarders and wakeskaters in the world will be descending on downtown Austin, May 12, to participate in the 2nd Annual Longhorn Rail Jam - presented by Malibu Boats and Nissan North America. This is a Malibu Just Slide event and stop #4 of the 2007 Texas Wakeboard Tour .
The development of the high-speed, gas-powered winch is one of the newest and most exciting progressions in wakeboarding's young history. It has given riders the ability to take their sport to the streets with the use of portable pools, separated by rails and sliders and pulled by a winch. Called a pool-gap and/or rail jam, this is action sports up-close and in-your-face and it’s as exciting for the riders as it is for spectators.
The Longhorn Rail Jam is FREE to the public and will take place on Saturday night, May 12th on Austin’s legendary party strip – 6th Street (between Trinity and San Jacinto). The rail jam set-up will include two fifty foot pools filled with over 30,000 gallons of water and separated by two forty foot rail structures.
Already scheduled to appear are Pro riders Aaron Reed, Brandon Thomas, Jeff Weatherall, Gabe Lucas, Amber Wing, Jimmy Lariche and Clint Tompkins. Regional competitors include Brian Sasser, Richie McKee, Danny Sherrill, Joey Bradley, Tom Fooshee, Brett little, Billy Garcia, Collin Gee, Joe Lemberg, Kyle Reed, Ross Skrudland, Ryan Anderson, Hank Carter and Corey Whitley. They will all be competing for over $3000 in cash and prizes. The event starts at 6 p.m. and admission is free. For more information, visit www.texaswakeboardtour.com
