Lake Havasu Provides Perfect Backdrop For Malibu Just Ride Series

Lake Havasu City, AZ – The breathtaking scenery of Lake Havasu embodied the spirit of the festivities out on the water as the Malibu Just Ride Series blasted through Arizona.

Boats lined up on Lake Havasu to get an up close and personal look at some of the world’s top wakeboarders going off.

On shore, one very notable spectator caught the day’s action. Tommy Lee, former drummer for Motley Crue, has become a fan of the sport and spent the day getting pointers from some of the world’s top wakeboarders.

Lee’s personal wakeboard instructor for the weekend is none other than Darin Shapiro, the most decorated wakeboarder of all time who decided to put on a demo for the fans at Lake Havasu.

Shapiro, a budding musician himself, put on a demo out on the water wowing the crowds in an overall display of wakeboarding mastery.

Shapiro’s run was enough to get the ''judges'', a group of other top pros, to give Shapiro the nod for Best Trick and Best Double Up of the day.

Shapiro wasn’t alone in taking everything big. Fellow professionals Ricky Gonzales and Brian Grubb put on a wakeboarding display as well. For Grubb, his specialty of the day was best crash, wiping out in grand fashion. Gonzales showed everyone how to use the apparatus, sliding his way through the course.
